A photographic survey of remote island formations off the west coast of Scotland. Shot over three seasons, the work interrogates ideas of isolation and the threshold between land and sea. The project draws on hydrographic survey maps and archival coastguard records, layering documentary impulse with an interest in the sublime. Each image was made on 35mm film and printed as large-format C-prints.

A short film commission for Nowness exploring the relationship between tide patterns and human movement along the Thames estuary. The film uses a single static camera position across multiple tidal cycles, allowing the rhythm of water and people to create its own accidental choreography.

A still-life series for Kinfolk magazine exploring the visual language of raw geological materials. Each image was lit using only reflected natural light, requiring long exposures that introduced a quality of time into what might otherwise appear as purely spatial images.

A twelve-page editorial for Wallpaper* investigating material transitions in contemporary architecture. Photographed across five countries over six weeks. The images focus on moments of material change — concrete meeting glass, timber abutting steel — treating architecture as a continuous act of negotiation between systems.

A site-specific installation for Somerset House’s East Wing using archival photographic materials embedded in concrete forms. The work explored how photographic images change when removed from their original context and fixed into a material substrate — the image becoming physical, the document becoming object.

An experimental short examining the relationship between textile and skin — the garment as architecture for the body. The film combines Super 8 footage with digital compositing to create images that hover between documentation and abstraction, between presence and trace.

The first volume of an ongoing still-life study examining obsolete domestic objects and the material memory they carry. Objects were sourced from car boot sales, estate clearances and industrial skips — chosen for their sense of having been used, worn, or discarded. The large format process slowed the making and introduced a quality of attention to each subject.

A large-scale photographic installation for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall Bridge commission. The work presented photographs of shared public land — commons, greens, parks, verges — at a scale that made individual blades of grass visible, insisting on attention to the overlooked.

Landscape work made in the Cairngorms examining how glacial geology has shaped the language of contemporary land art in Scotland. The project sits between photography and research — reading landscape as a kind of slow sculpture, one made over millennia rather than years.

A documentary following sculptor Phyllida Barlow during the installation of her final major survey exhibition. The film focuses less on the finished work than on the process of making — the physical labour of installation, the decisions made in the space, the sculptor’s relationship to scale.
